Scrambled Egg Grilled Cheese Recipe

  • Author: Jake
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 sandwiches 1x

Description

Delicious and comforting Scrambled Egg Grilled Cheese sandwiches made with fluffy scrambled eggs, melted American cheese, and buttery Italian bread. Perfect for breakfast or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Egg Mixture

  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (for cooking eggs)

Sandwich Assembly

  • 8 slices Italian Bread
  • 8 slices American Cheese
  • 3 tablespoons Butter (for spreading on bread, approximately 1 teaspoon per slice)

Instructions

  1. Cook the scrambled eggs: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat until sizzling. Add the 6 large eggs and gently lift and stir with a spatula, allowing the uncooked portions to flow underneath. Continue cooking for 4-5 minutes or until the eggs are fully set but still moist.
  2. Remove and keep eggs warm: Transfer the scrambled egg mixture from the skillet to a plate and keep warm for later use.
  3. Prepare the bread: Carefully wipe out the skillet with a paper towel to remove residual egg. Spread about 1 teaspoon of butter onto one side of each of the 8 slices of Italian bread.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches: Place one slice of bread buttered side down on a clean surface. Top it with one slice of American cheese, then add approximately one-quarter of the scrambled eggs, another slice of American cheese, and finally top with a second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Heat the skillet: Place the skillet back on the stove over medium heat to warm up for cooking the sandwiches.
  6. Cook the sandwiches: Place two assembled sandwiches into the skillet. Cook for 4-6 minutes until the bread turns golden brown and the cheese melts, flipping only once carefully during cooking.
  7. Serve and keep warm: Remove the cooked sandwiches from the skillet and keep warm while you repeat the cooking process with the remaining sandwiches.

Notes

  • Use a nonstick skillet for easy cooking and cleaning.
  • Keep the heat at medium to prevent burning the bread while ensuring the cheese melts properly.
  • Wiping the skillet between egg cooking and sandwich grilling helps avoid mixing flavors and burning bits.
  • You can substitute American cheese with your favorite melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
