Raw Strawberry Jam with Chia Seeds Recipe

  • Author: Jake
  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 1 to cups of jam 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

This raw strawberry jam is a quick, healthy, and naturally sweetened spread made without cooking. Using fresh strawberries, lemon juice, maple syrup, and chia seeds, it thickens naturally after sitting for an hour. Perfect for a nutritious breakfast or snack, this jam is free from added sugars and preservatives.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 400g strawberries, hulled

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash and hull the strawberries, then blend three-quarters of them until smooth.
  2. Chop Remaining Strawberries: Roughly chop the remaining quarter of strawberries to add texture to the jam.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the blended strawberries, chopped strawberries, lemon juice, maple syrup, and chia seeds. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Thicken the Jam: Allow the mixture to sit for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. During this time, the chia seeds will absorb liquid and thicken the jam naturally.
  5. Store the Jam: Transfer the jam to a sterilised jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze it for up to 1 month for longer preservation.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • You can adjust sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup to taste.
  • Stir the jam occasionally during the thickening period to prevent clumps and promote even consistency.
  • This jam has a fresh, natural flavor and contains no preservatives, so consume within the recommended storage times.
  • Make sure to store the jam in sterilised jars to extend its shelf life and prevent spoilage.
