Scale
Filling
- 1 cup Ham, diced
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 1/2 Red Bell Pepper, chopped
- 1 Yellow Onion, chopped
- 12 ounces Tomato Sauce
Dough
- 1 cup Water
- 1 3/4 teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast
- 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon Salt
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) to ensure it’s ready for baking the hot pockets.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ham, chopped yellow onion, chopped red bell pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, and tomato sauce. Mix everything well and set aside.
- Activate the Yeast: In a large bowl, stir together the water, granulated sugar, and instant dry yeast for about 2 minutes until the yeast is foamy, indicating it is active.
- Make the Dough: Add the olive oil, all-purpose flour, and salt into the yeast mixture. Mix and then knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide and Shape the Dough: Shape the dough into a sausage form and cut it into 6 even pieces. Roll each piece out into a flat circular shape.
- Fill and Seal the Pockets: Place a generous portion of the pizza filling on one half of each dough circle. Fold the dough over and pinch the edges tightly to seal. Use a skewer to poke a few steam vents on the side of each pocket.
- Bake the Hot Pockets: Arrange all the prepared pockets on a baking tray and bake them in the preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the hot pockets from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm!
Notes
- You can customize the filling by adding other favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms, olives, or pepperoni.
- Ensure the yeast is fresh and the water is warm (not hot) to properly activate the yeast.
- Seal the edges tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
- For a crispier crust, brush the hot pockets with a little olive oil before baking.
- Store leftover hot pockets in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best results.
