Ingredients
Scale
Matcha Mixture
- 1 teaspoon Matcha Powder
- 2 fluid ounces Water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Honey
Milk
- 6 fluid ounces Milk
Instructions
- Heat the milk: Warm 6 fluid ounces of milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling. Alternatively, you may use a microwave, a stovetop steamer, or a milk frother to heat the milk evenly.
- Prepare matcha powder: Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder through a fine sieve into a wide-mouthed mug or traditional matcha bowl to ensure a smooth, lump-free texture.
- Whisk matcha with water: Pour 2 fluid ounces of water over the sifted matcha. Using a bamboo whisk, whisk the mixture in a zigzag motion until it becomes smooth and frothy, which should take about 10 to 15 seconds.
- Add honey and mix: Stir 1 1/2 teaspoons of honey into the frothy matcha mixture to add natural sweetness.
- Combine with milk: Froth the heated milk until creamy and pour it gently into the matcha and honey mixture. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade matcha latte.
Notes
- For a vegan alternative, substitute dairy milk with almond, soy, or oat milk.
- Adjust the honey quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
- For a stronger matcha flavor, increase the matcha powder to 1 1/2 teaspoons.
- Use freshly sifted matcha powder to avoid clumps and ensure a smooth drink.
- If you don’t have a bamboo whisk, use a small regular whisk or hand frother as a substitute.
