  • Author: Jake
  • Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 24 biscuits 1x

Description

Delight in these rich and fudgy chocolate fudge sprinkle-crinkle biscuits, featuring a soft cocoa-infused dough rolled in colorful sprinkles. Perfectly crinkled and baked to a tender finish, these biscuits offer a fun twist on classic chocolate cookies with a crunchy, festive coating.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 60g cocoa powder, sieved
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 180g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 60ml vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs

Coating

  • 1 small tub sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the sieved cocoa powder, caster sugar, and vegetable oil together thoroughly. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a separate bowl, mix the plain flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Add these dry ingredients to the cocoa mixture and stir until a soft dough forms. If the dough feels too soft and sticky, transfer it to the fridge and chill for 1 hour to make it easier to handle.
  3. Prep Oven and Baking Tray: Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan) or gas mark 5. Line a baking tray with baking parchment to prevent sticking during baking.
  4. Shape and Coat Biscuits: Tip the sprinkles into a shallow dish. Using a heaped teaspoon, scoop the dough and roll each portion into a ball. Roll each ball in the sprinkles thoroughly to coat them evenly. If sprinkles don’t stick well, gently press them onto the dough balls or warm the dough slightly by rolling between your hands before coating.
  5. Arrange and Bake: Place the sprinkle-coated dough balls evenly spaced on the prepared baking tray. Bake in the center of the oven for 10 minutes. The biscuits will crinkle as they bake.
  6. Cool and Store: Once baked, transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to cool completely. They will firm up as they cool. Store the biscuits in a biscuit tin where they will keep fresh for up to four days.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough for an hour makes it easier to handle and helps the sprinkles stick better.
  • Do not overbake the biscuits to maintain a soft fudgy center; they firm up as they cool.
  • You can customize sprinkles colors or types to suit the occasion or preference.
  • Ensure the baking tray is lined with parchment to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
